Legal Professionals to Share E-Discovery Best Practices at 2nd Annual ‘The Masters Conference’

July 23, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
ORLANDO, Florida (July 23, 2007) — When the amended Federal Rules of Civil Procedure went into effect on December 1, 2006, the legal landscape forever changed to take into account the importance of Electronically Stored Information (ESI) in litigation. Even today, however, many legal professionals have yet to fully digest these amendments, what they mean, and how, exactly, to comply. The second annual The Masters Conference: E-Landscape and the FRCP Fallout on October 25-26, 2007 will be held at Ronald Reagan Building, 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington DC. The conference Web site is www.themastersconference.com.

A survey released in May 2007 found that 83 percent of technology executives are not prepared for litigation under the new FRCP rules, with 67 percent indicating they were not even aware or familiar with their company’s process of gathering ESI for lawsuits. A similar survey released in March 2007 indicated that 94 percent of those responsible for e-mail policy did not feel their organization was prepared for the FRCP requirements.

During last year’s The Masters Conference: E-Practice in the Electronic Age, more than 200 attendees learned from industry experts what might happen once the new rules took effect.

This year’s Masters Conference will draw from industry experts and consultants to provide a forum of discussion that addresses the new reality. Being 'litigation-ready' now requires due diligence on the part of attorneys and litigation support directors alike.

Vendors and all legal professionals can join The Master’s Conference as an attendee or sponsor and contribute to the educational process. Legal professionals are important now, more than ever, for providing the proper arsenal of tools and information needed to embark on the new E-Landscape and the FRCP Fallout.

"E-discovery experts and well-informed professionals from law firms, corporations, and the bench will talk about strategies, best practices and resources during this two-day conference to be held in our nation's capital. In the months leading up to the conference, we will be updating this Web site to keep you informed regarding registration, new speakers, conference schedules, CLE credit , and more,” states Lindsay Couch, Executive Conference Director, The Masters Conference.
