HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA - Split Court, Inc. (http://www.splitcourt.com) today announced that its popular online program for spitting PDF (Adobe Acrobat) Exhibits for Court filing is now a free service. Split Court’s online program splits PDF files into the exact size needed for electronic filing with Federal Courts' CM/ECF systems and State Courts that have moved to electronic filing. All Federal Courts and many State Courts have gone to a mandatory electronic filing system whereby they do not permit the filing of paper pleadings. The Courts require that all pleadings, exhibits and other papers be filed electronically in PDF format. The Courts have also set a maximum file size for each document filed typically ranging between 2 and 5 megabytes. Documents which exceed the maximum size in megabytes must be split into separate parts with each file below the maximum size allowed. Getting the documents to the correct size has become a time-consuming and expensive exercise for many attorneys, who must generally scan pages repeatedly using “trial and error” to arrive at the right size for each file.
Split Court, Inc.’s online application lets lawyers upload the large files and specify the Court-required file size. The program does the rest by splitting the exhibits into separate files each with the optimal size. Attorneys can then download the separate files or have them e-mailed back to them for filing.
“No longer do attorneys need to rely on the expensive, time-consuming and mind-boggling ‘trial and error’ method of preparing their Exhibits for filing in Federal Courts.” Chavela Robin, Split Court CEO. “With little effort and in just a few minutes, the application will split the files into the optimal size and e-mail them to the attorney for filing."
"Splitcourt.com has received such a phenomenal reception since it was released in March that we decided to switch from a pay-per-use model to an advertising model. Split Court is now used regularly by some of the largest law firms in the country and by Federal agencies.”
