Salix Pharmaceuticals Renews Managed IT Security Agreement with Webfargo

Research Triangle Park, NC – July 18, 2007 - Webfargo Data Security, Inc., the Triangle's only locally owned provider specializing in managed security services, announced today that it has once again been selected to provide IT security management services for Salix Pharmaceuticals, Ltd. (NASDAQ: SLXP).

Webfargo has worked with Salix Pharmaceuticals for over three years, providing IT security management for both internal and perimeter network devices. “As one might expect from a growing pharmaceutical company such as Salix, IT security is a high priority,” said Tyler Salisbury, Webfargo’s Director of Sales and a corporate officer. “Our partnership with Salix has been successful due to its emphasis on the security and availability of its data and network resources.”

The new agreement includes both proactive services, such as ongoing management of multiple IT security and network devices, as well as traditional consulting and support on an as-needed basis. “This will allow us to provide Salix the proactive work that its security policies and best practices require, while still providing on demand resources for new projects or support,” said Salisbury.

The managed services contract has grown since its inception in 2003, with the number of devices covered more than doubling and the number and type of services provided rising proportionally. “Our security needs have increased over the years, and Webfargo has been right there with us all the way,” said English. ”As we manage our growing network, we have come to rely on their insight and expertise to provide us the security data and insight we need to make informed decisions.”
