(NASHVILLE, TENN) Thanks to the Pentagon Channel, troops around the world watched The Charlie Daniels Band show their patriotism in the newly released DVD, Live From Iraq.The Pentagon Channel, which broadcasts military news and information to 2.6 million members of the United States Armed Forces, aired Live From Iraq four times over the Fourth of July holiday. The show contained never before seen documentary footage including an Easter service in Ur at the House of Abraham.
James Langdon, Director of Programming and Operations for the Pentagon Channel commented,"The troops fighting the war on terror know America cares about them. Charlie Daniels is a genuine, true friend of the military and we deeply appreciate his contributions."
The Pentagon Channel is broadcast on 350 military installations in the United States and on the American Forces Network (AFN), which reaches 178 other countries. The Pentagon Channel is available on Dish Network, a variety of Time/Warner stations, and several smaller cable outlets offering civilians the opportunity to watch. Their website (www.pentagonchannel.mil) streams the channel content to a half-million users each month.
The DVD's footage is taken from The Charlie Daniels Band's new album, Live From Iraq. The two-disc package was inspired by the footage that David Corlew of d Corlew films shot during a series of trips The Charlie Daniels Band made to Iraq to encourage and entertain troops. The CD contains thirteen songs from four performances in Iraq.
Recently, Charlie Daniels was presented a medal for his exceptional public service in support of the armed troops by the with the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
