Phoenix America launches new small footprint Low Resolution Magnetic Encoder

Responding to a market call for a magnetic replacement for smaller form factor encoders, Phoenix America Inc. has developed a new rugged cost effective industrial grade tachometer/encoder that addresses the inherent weaknesses of the more fragile optical encoder counterpart. Key features of this magnetically actuated encoder are a small one inch diameter bolt hole pattern. Even though the form factor is minaturized, it still can provide up to 20 PPR across its two quadrature channels. The Phoenix America encoder is a rugged construction with bearing or seal. It employs only solid state electronics and will operate in dirty and wet environments.
The P9112 encoder is intended for lower-resolution industrial applications and functions as an incremental angular position encoder when used with a multi-pole magnet target wheel. Direction of rotation can be obtained from the two output channels that are 90 degrees electrically out of phase. The final pulses per revolution (PPR) can be selected up to 20 PPR per channel. The P9112 utilizes a 5/8 inch mutipole magnetic target wheel which can be custom configured for a wide variety of shaft sizes and style.
