Ledbury, UK – 18 July 2007 - Award-winning property developers, Urban Splash, have chosen Jaga Heating Products for a project involving the regeneration of 349 Victorian-style terraced houses in Langworthy, Salford. Each property features five of Jaga’s streamlined Strada radiators plus the sleek, white Sani towel rails in bathrooms and ensuites to provide residents with stylish yet affordable heating. This sought-after development has caused a media stir across the country and seen buyers queuing for three days in advance of sales.

This exciting new development named ‘Chimney Pot Park’ has given this neglected suburb of Greater Manchester a much needed boost of city chic. Dubbed the ‘upside down houses’ for their unusual design layout, the properties feature downstairs sleeping arrangements and an upstairs living space with a unique mezzanine kitchen. Specialists in regeneration, with a history of innovation and imaginative design, Urban Splash is renowned for challenging convention and taking on difficult projects. The Chimney Pot Park development has been undertaken in partnership with Salford City Council and national regeneration agency, English Partnerships.

Jaga’s highly advanced LowH2O technology focuses on the concept of low mass heating and is concealed within the Strada. Operating at one tenth of the weight and water of a traditional radiator, it delivers rapid yet regulated heat and has a reaction time that is three times faster than the performance of an ordinary radiator. By only emitting heat when necessary, the Strada reduces energy waste allowing for a 10% energy saving on heating bills for residents.

Part of Jaga’s Energy Savers range, the award-winning Strada is being more widely used in social housing projects and private housing developments. It combines modern visual appeal with superior heating performance.

shedkm, the architects responsible for Chimney Pot Park, and for specifying Jaga’s Strada said, “There were two aspects of the Strada that made it stand out for us. The low water content of these radiators reduces the amount of energy required to operate them and makes them more responsive than a traditional radiator. We have created homes that have been designed with lower living costs in mind. As one of the most energy-efficient heating solutions on the market, Jaga’s LowH2O Strada was the obvious choice for this project.

“We also think that they look great. The pipework is all concealed within the standard casing and there is a choice of good looking thermostatic valves. These houses work really hard in terms of the amount of space they deliver from the starting point of a two-up-down terraced house. The simple form and finish of the Strada provides the discreet that the spaces need.”

Jaga’s Business Development Manager, Ian Sidebottom said, “This is a very exciting project that has generated a large amount of interest in Salford and has helped the regeneration of the area. We are delighted that once again the Strada has been chosen to provide energy-efficient and affordable heating in yet another Pathfinder Market Renewal area – the government’s scheme to tackle the problems of low housing demand and housing abandonment across Britain.”
