Italian Wine Merchants Presents Women in Wine

New York, NY July 15, 2007–Italian Wine Merchants, the leading authority on Italian wine, will host a wine tasting event dedicated to Italy’s female winemakers. The wine tasting is scheduled for Saturday, July 21, from 1 PM to 3PM at Italian Wine Merchants’ state-of-the-art wine tasting facility—Studio del Gusto.

The six wines selected for this tasting event will be paired with an assortment of authentic regional Italian antipasti and cheeses. An in-house Italian Wine Merchants sommelier will lead the wine tasting and participants will receive a booklet of producer and wine tasting notes.

The theme of this wine tasting explores the shifting landscape of Italy’s wine industry. Historically, the Italian wine world has been dominated by men. Today finds the future of Italian wines such as Bruno Giacosa’s Barbaresco, Bartolo Mascarello’s Barolo, Castello di Monsanto’s Chianti, and Gianfranco Soldera’s Brunello di Montalcino, residing not in the hands of a son, but in the capable hands of their strong-minded daughters.
