Kid Collector a Big Hit at Chicago Antique Market

Chicago, Illinois—Appearing last weekend before a group of enthusiastic kid collectors at the Chicago Antiques Market’s Junior Collectors Club, third grader Joshua Lambert captivated kids and parents alike with his often hilarious comments about his treasure hunting experiences, while he answered questions and offered tips to kids about starting a collection of their own. The entire audience got a close up view at some of the items Joshua collects, including snow globes, coins, antique and vintage toys, and his prize possession — a NASCAR Tony Stewart racing suit that he loves to wear in recognition of his favorite driver. Kids had the chance to talk about what they liked to collect, while other inquisitive kids asked Joshua questions of all kinds. The kids soon discovered Joshua’s latest interest in the Webkinz animals, of which he has two: A Chihuahua he named, "Hummer" and a tiger named, “Stripe.”
Joshua’s father, Daryle S. Lambert, author of the new book “31 Steps to Your Millions in Antiques & Collectibles”, addressed the parents, encouraging them to become active in collecting with their children, speaking of the many joys the activity affords families, as well as the limitless educational benefits kids can acquire outside the classroom.
Lambert says, “What a great way to hone in on the curiosity kids naturally have for collecting and encourage them in a direction away from the computer, TV, and electronic games. As a family activity, collecting has provided another way for me to keep a close relationship with my son. There’s nothing better than that.”
When the Junior Collectors Club meeting ended, Joshua took off through the rows of dealer booths, hunting for his latest treasure, stopping only to catch a few live tunes from the band and grabbing a bite to eat along his way.
There’s still time to catch this dynamic father and son duo at the Chicago Antique Market Junior Collectors Club this season. Watch for Daryle and Joshua’s upcoming speaking dates at the www.31corp.com or at www.Chicagoantiquemarket.com
Chicago Antique Market is held the last weekend of every month this summer through October from 9am to 5pm on the 1300 block of West Randolph Street.
