Masters Hall of Fame to Honor Dr. Alonzo M. Jones for Outstanding Achievements in the Martial Arts

Costa Mesa, CA - Dr. Alonzo M. Jones announced that he is humbled to have been nominated by board member Shihan Robert Posslenzny and plans to attend the 7th Annual Masters Hall of Fame Awards held at the Hilton Hotel and Resort in Costa Mesa, California on Saturday, August 11th, 2007.

Jones began training under his Grandfather and today is well versed in the arts: Gezerit el Malik, Kempo, Judo, Arnis, Boxing/Kick Boxing, Goju and Capoeira. In 1984, Jones renamed his grandfather's military system “Comba-Tai,” or the “Grand Struggle to help all people.” That same year, under the authority of Grandmaster Tillmon, through the World Combat Academy, Jones established his first martial art school in Biloxi.

In 1987, Jones continued his martial arts studies in Goju Sabudo Kai under Kyoshi Jesus Sanchez. In 1994, Jones earned a Ph.D. from Eternal World Graduate School in Theology and a D.Min. from Friends International Christian University. In 1995, O-Sensei Philip S. Porter promoted Jones to Sandan in Judo and invited him to train with the Olympic Judo Team.

Retiring from the Air Force and moving to Nevada in 2001, Jones headed Project Helping Youth Progress and Excel, Nevada Partners Inc., and Attorney General Office's Project Safe Neighborhoods. In 2003 Dr. Jones received Congressional and Senatorial citations as Citizen of Distinction by the “Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow” for bringing awareness of Childhood Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Since 2006, Jones has taught coping skills and life strategies in the Nevada Clark County schools measuring a 92% success rate. In 2005, Dr. Jones designed a youth prevention program that won Las Vegas a National Innovative Best Practice award 2007.

Dr. Alonzo M. Jones credits his passion to assist today's youth and his relentless energy to his love of Christ and a desire to create a better world for his daughter, Numani Kandace Jones and his son, Alonzo M. Jones II as well as his God Children, Cory James Laidlaw and Kebra Joy Laidlaw.
