NEW ESD SIMULATOR WITH ROBOTIC MECHANISM FROM TESEQ PERFORMS PRECISE AIR-DISCHARGE TESTING
July 01, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
EDISON, N.J., July 2007 – Teseq Inc., a leading developer and provider of instrumentation and test systems for EMC emission and immunity, now offers a complete solution for the fully automated electrostatic discharge (ESD) testing of robotic applications. Teseq’s new ESD generator, the NSG 439, comes with a robotic air discharge adapter accessory and is used for the ESD testing of operating controls, peripheral devices and multi-way connectors affected by increasingly comprehensive product standards. When ESD tests are performed on connectors, an air discharge test is generally required on each individual pin. However, because discharge paths are unpredictable, manually applying air discharge to each specific pin can be difficult and prone to error. The NSG 439 generator with the automated robotic adapter not only stops unforeseen discharge paths, but also allows the approaching speed to be programmed as constant, providing precisely executed air discharge testing.
The NSG 439’s compact housing was specifically designed for use in harsh robotic environments and withstands the high-velocity robotic maneuvers that occur during test procedures. The robot attachment can be positioned on multiple faces of the housing and networks can be easily exchanged by simply removing the locking cap.
This automated solution accurately performs these test procedures without wasting the time of specialized personnel, and because of the repetitiveness of the testing, qualitative reproducibility is improved. It is fully compliant with IEC/EN 61000-4-2 as well as ISO 10605, and additional requirements can be fulfilled by exchanging the fingertip.
The complete solution comes with the NSG 439 generator, the INA 439 robotic air discharge adapter, necessary control software, a test bench and an interlocked enclosure.
Pricing for a NSG 439 generator starts at $34,000. Delivery is eight weeks ARO.
