Asigra Inc., the technology leader in agentless backup and recovery software for enterprises and service providers targeting the growing managed storage services market, today announced that its flagship product, Asigra Televaulting™, has been awarded IT Week’s Editor’s Choice Award for exceptional protection off remote and branch office environments.

According to IT Week, a leading industry publication, companies that are looking for a single backup solution that can be used in all of their business locations should take a close look at Asigra Televaulting. IT Week applauded Asigra’s use of data de-duplication, compression, delta blocking to cut down on backup traffic and the software’s ability to counter data theft by providing strong AES encryption.

“What’s great about this award is that it identifies some of the key advantages provided by Asigra Televaulting that are critical for providing distributed enterprises backup and recovery,” said Eran Farajun, executive vice president for Asigra. “The award validates we’re succeeding at bringing real technology to market that removes the challenges associated with managing remote backup infrastructures – our core area of focus.”

With many organizations growing in terms of remote and branch office expansion, whether through expansion or acquisition, the need for reliable and secure distributed data protection becomes increasingly complex. Asigra Televaulting addresses the challenges of multi-platform environments, scalability and WAN optimization with a single solution that centralizes high-performance backup and recovery for all locations.

Asigra Televaulting combines data de-duplication, delta blocking and compression to produce powerful disk-based WAN-optimized, multi-site backup/recovery software, delivering high-performance data protection. As it backs up data at remote sites, the Televaulting data de-duplication feature works at both the block and file level and transfers the single-instanced data to a central storage vault, which is typically at the data center. Asigra provides global single-instancing of data across all sites; for example, only one copy of a Microsoft Office application would be transmitted and stored in the event application recovery is required, regardless of the number of copies of that application deployed across the enterprise. With Televaulting data de-duplication, only the changed parts of files are transmitted after the first backup and all data is compressed prior to transmission. In addition to working on multiple backups of the same file in the same location with multiple backups, Televaulting also de-duplicates instances of same data in multiple locations. De-duplication has no adverse effect on restoration times.
