TAKING THE TEFL SHORT COURSE TO THE NEXT LEVEL
June 22, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
Leading TEFL trainer i-to-i is offering short course TEFL graduates the opportunity to top-up their skills and experience with the launch of a new Specialist Certificate in Lesson Planning and Teaching Experience. For many travellers hoping to teach English overseas, a short TEFL course such as an online or weekend course is often the best and only affordable option as the cost and time implications of a four-week course can often place it out of reach. However, for those with limited experience a short course in TEFL, particularly the online course, gives students a huge degree of knowledge and theory but without experiencing first hand the practical side of TEFL, it can leave them feeling a little nervous about putting that theory into practice.
The new one-day interactive course sees TEFL graduates working alongside other students as well as an expert TEFL tutor to plan and execute effective English language lessons, receive crucial feedback and observe other teachers at work. Students will be given the opportunity to not only hone their skills and put their newly acquired theory into practice in a real life classroom environment, but also gain crucial planning and teaching experience to add to their CV.
i-to-i TEFL courses manager Joe Hallwood comments: “As an ex-TEFL teacher myself I know only too well how daunting it is the first time you stand up in front of your students to present your first lesson. While the online TEFL course is an incredibly in-depth course and provides students with an extremely good grasp of TEFL, if you’ve never actually stood up in front of people before it can really help if you top-up with some hands on experience. We wanted to offer our graduates the opportunity to do just that and have worked with our graduates and TEFL tutors to provide a practice environment that will not only build skills and confidence but will also meet the high standards of prospective employers and future students.”
i-to-i has been training people to teach English overseas for over thirteen years and offers a range of internationally accredited TEFL options including weekend courses in the UK and overseas and online TEFL courses. Paid teaching placements are also available through i-to-i in 13 countries including Greece, Czech Republic, China, Thailand and Honduras.
The i-to-i specialist certificate – Lesson Planning and Teaching Experience costs £85.
