Merriman Capital Management changes name to Merriman Berkman Next: Offers a whole new way of looking at money management

SEATTLE—JUNE 20, 2007—Merriman Berkman Next, the new name of Merriman Capital Management, a Seattle-based investment management firm, announced today its new name and business service expansion. The name reflects two events: the merger of Merriman Capital with Seattle-based accounting firm, Berkman Purdy and Lindstrom; and the company’s service expansion into comprehensive money management. “We’re taking the next step by expanding our services to address the financial needs of people in all life stages, helping them get from where they are now to where they want to be with their money,” said Jeff Merriman-Cohen, CEO of Merriman Berkman Next, “so that even people just starting out can get the financial advice they need to reach their goals.” Jeff goes on to say, “when most people think about money management, they think only about investing. We’re looking at the larger picture: taxes, estate planning, planning for large purchases, budgeting and the like so that our clients have the knowledge they need to feel in control.” The new name was developed to both demonstrate their new way of thinking about money management and express how the company is now poised to help people with what’s next in their lives – whatever that may be.
Merriman Berkman Next uniquely approaches money management through education – helping people learn and understand enough about the hows and whys of money management to feel comfortably in control of their future. The company offers free educational workshops in various locations throughout the country, a free investment education website (FundAdvice.com), the Sound Investing radio show that airs on KVI on Sundays at 10am, and a variety of money management resources available on its website (MerrimanBerkmanNext.com). The firm offers commission-free, fee only objective money management advice, with the clients’ goals as the only focus.
