Brooklyn Christian Center collaborates with Black Business Circle During June 2005 Black Economic Empowerment Month.Lisa Washington Founder and President of Black Business Circle and original Founder of Economic Empowerment Month will be collaborating with Brooklyn Christian Center’s Rev. Dennis A. Dillion during the month of June 2005.
Economic Empowerment Month has been proclaimed by four different levels of government in NY State which include the Congress, State Senate, City Council and the Brooklyn Borough President. Lisa Washington is leading a national trend in the area of empowerment during the month the June.
Rev. Dennis A. Dillion, pastor of the Brooklyn Christian Center, New York’s new life and lifestyle ministry, and publisher of The New York Christian Times, is affectionately referred to as “The Economics Preacher”.
He lectures extensively on Black Economics and spending patterns, including a brief tenure at Columbia University School of Business. He is responsible for leveraging tens of millions of dollars to New York’s Black community and has represented many major corporations on issues of corporate responsibility and workforce diversity, and has led two of the largest corporate-community settlements in U.S. history.
Rev. Dennis Dillon is the author of Bitter Truth is Better than Sweet Falsehood, and in his 1997 run for Brooklyn Borough President he garnered over 15,000 votes on an independent line.
An award-winning journalist and the recipient of over 100 community and national awards, Dillon led the move to get thousands of New Yorkers to become homeowners through a series of initiatives including the formation of the Clergy Mortgage Coalition and Houses for You. Rev. Dillon also led Black America’s largest organized move of money from “unfriendly” banks to more community friendly institutions.
He is the chief architect of The Black Church Means Business Conference, one of the largest such gatherings of Black business, corporate, clergy and government leaders addressing business and community development issues.
Since 1996 through a partnership with FOX Television and Emmy award-winning news anchor Bill McCreary, Rev. Dillon has produced EASTER IN NEW YORK, an Easter television special that was twice aired nationally.
A former reporter and frequent freelance writer for such publications as The New Jersey Record, The New York Daily News, and Gospel Today magazine, Rev. Dillon’s primary purpose is to communicate the spiritual redemption of all people and the economic, social and political transformation of Blacks.
He serves on the boards of several organizations and corporations, and has been locally and nationally featured in major newspapers, magazines and radio/television programs, including The New York Times, Crain’s New York Business, Newsweek, Black Enterprise, and The Evening News with Peter Jennings.
