Arlington, Virginia (June 18, 2007) – The Corporate E-Discovery Forum™, an industry peer group of corporate representatives that regularly meets for informal and confidential discussions regarding strategies and emerging issues involving e discovery, announced a rapid growth of membership during its one-year anniversary meeting held June 14-15, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, VA."The Corporate E-Discovery Forum provides an industry unique venue in which corporate representatives can informally and confidentially discuss and learn from their industry peers in a non-commercial environment regarding recommended best practices and strategies for both proactive planning and immediate litigation needs," said Charles Morgan, general counsel for ONSITE3 and chairman of the Corporate E-Discovery Forum. "The rapid growth of membership over the past year stems from the strong value experienced by our members and the interest created by word-of-mouth recommendations among industry colleagues about this forum.”
"The Corporate E-Discovery Forum is not your typical conference in which corporate attendees must navigate through a maze of vendors and consultants all trying to promote their latest products, services, and technologies," said James Wright, executive committee member of the Corporate E-Discovery Forum. "These meetings consist of a ‘who’s who’ of practicing corporate legal and IT experts, including some the best minds in the industry, who share about their experiences and approaches to managing corporate information."
Topics for members-only sessions during the June meeting include:
- Risk & Cost Reduction Strategies, with discussion of e-discovery planning, tools, and technologies
- Practical Approaches for Meet & Confer, with discussion of experiences over the past six months and emphasizing the “Do’s & Don’ts” and lessons learned
- Unified Messaging, with discussion of how it works, technologies behind the tools, as well as the benefits and risks to corporations adopting the technology
- E-Dialogue with Judges & Law Firms, with discussion about real world application of litigation triggers, balance inequities, scope and relevance determination, reasonableness and good faith, workload and resources, as well as working with outside counsel and consultants
- E-Dialogue with Law Firms & E-Discovery Consultants, with discussion of the in house counsel decision making process for selection of e-discovery counsel as well as regarding coordination efforts with outside entities such as counsel, consultants and vendors
- Recent Case Law Impacting Operations, with discussion of how these cases may influence corporate strategies and best practices
“We’ve had a number of members tell us how they’ve learned important information from the Corporate E Discovery Forum that they’ve simply not been able to find any place else despite their participation in some of the industry’s top continuing legal education courses and conference seminars,” said Morgan. “In our June 2007 meeting, we will be hearing from a number of prominent judges and Fortune 500 corporate speakers. No place else can you find the quality and quantity of experts with such extensive and recent experience involving electronic discovery and related issues.”
