FollowUs introduces its Enhanced TrimTrac Pro edition

FollowUs (www.followus.co.uk), the UK’s leading mobile location solutions service, has launched the latest edition of its low-cost, pay-as-you-go GPS product to the market – Trimtrac Pro – for the in-vehicle telematics market. The TrimTrac Pro will make in-vehicle positioning more accurate, cost-effective and feature-rich.

Trimtrac Pro is a battery powered location security device that can be fitted onto any vehicle, so the owner or company can track the whereabouts in the event of a theft or disappearance. It is offered on a unique pay-as-you-go basis, meaning that owners or company only pay for traces as and when they are done.

The new in-vehicle applications include:

· GPRS enabled, which reduces the costs of the SIM card in the device used to report in its location;

· An external antenna so the device can actually be better hidden in the vehicle;

In addition, the device can be set to report its location continuously or at set time intervals according to the owner’s needs. Likewise, through the mapping technology incorporated into the FollowUs service, the owner can also now receive alerts to their mobile phones to record the location of a device.

The Trimtrac Pro device has intelligent battery saving measures which enables it to last up to 90 days with just 4 AA batteries. It achieves this by going into sleep mode, but wakes up to report its location periodically once it recognises movement. Alternatively the device can be switched to an "always on" mode by plugging in the optional 12-24v power adaptor. The Trimtrac then reports its position by sending a SMS message to the FollowUs platform - the device requiring a SIM card to be fitted into it. Dependent on the requirements of the customer, FollowUs will then automatically send the customer an SMS informing them that the device has moved. Alternatively, if the device is running on the "Always On" mode, the owner can run a trace whenever they wish. The FollowUs Trimtrac device provides location accuracy to within five metres.
