READING, Pa., June 2007 – EnerSys, the world’s largest manufacturer, marketer and distributor of industrial batteries, has extended its DataSafe HX line to include smaller-sized batteries ideal to meet the requirements of single-phase uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.

The DataSafe HX range now includes seven new models, the HX25 through the HX150, which offer between 23 and 150 watts/cell at the 15minute rate to a 1.67 V end voltage. These valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries have a 10-year design life, easily outlasting typical small UPS batteries, and are for use by UPS original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) as well as data center and facility managers in the information technology (IT) industry.

With an increased energy density of data processing equipment, the DataSafe HX batteries are specifically designed to maximize space utilization as well as reduce storage and maintenance costs. The batteries feature high-conductivity recessed brass terminals; high-integrity, long-life terminal seals; corrosion-resistant lead-calcium-tin alloy positive and negative grids for efficient recharge and long life; and hermetically sealed containers and covers that prevent leaks and resist shock and vibration.

All batteries in the DataSafe HX line have an operating temperature range of -22°F (-30°C) to 113°F (45°C). They can be stored for up to six months at 77°F (25°C) before needing a recharge, are available in flame retardant material, can safely be recharged at high-current rates and have a ten-year (three-year full plus seven year pro-rated) warranty. These batteries also meet critical industry standards including UL and IATA certification for non-hazardous and non-spillable shipping.
