The course, starting in July 2005 is aimed at giving BIM students visibility to a potential area where they can use, build domain and management strengths, to grow as managers or subject matter specialists. Explaining the need for such a course, Mr.KR.Ravi, Head of Human Resources, Thinksoft said “Since Software Testing is in the nascent phase & growing rapidly, there is a mismatch between demand and supply. Thinksoft as a pioneer in offshore Independent testing is committed to creating a resource pool of dedicated testing professionals through strategic partnerships with reputed Business Schools such as BIM”
The course is aimed at enabling students majoring in Finance and/or Systems to understand the intricacies of Software Testing and handle all stages of testing independently and efficiently. They would be exposed to the best practices followed at Thinksoft in handling testing projects, which would give them an insight on how theory is put into practice. In addition to understanding how structured testing projects are handled, the importance of domain focus in testing would also be illustrated.
"There have been loud talks among industrialists and academicians about Institute and Industry partnerships and most of the time they stop with just the lip service. Here is an example of a symbiotic relationship fostered between industry and an academic institution for mutual benefit. Thinksoft is one of the sought-after recruiters in BIM campus and this collaboration is one way by which Thinksoft gives back something concrete in lieu of committed students who join Thinksoft from BIM. This model should be a fore-runner for all other top B-Schools to emulate, if they are serious about reducing the gap between the inputs given in B-Schools and their relevance in the industry. This is also a symbol of ‘sharing knowledge’ in a knowledge intensive industry for the benefit of the society” says Mr. M Shankaran, Director of Bharathidasan Institute of Management.
This is one of the many initiatives of Thinksoft, which is expanding its operations and headcount to cater to the increasing demand for specialized testing services in the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance sector. “The growth projection is based on a market forecast for increased demand in the testing space. The successful track record of handling large independent functional testing assignments, maintaining high standards in execution, coverage, quality, and confidentiality, thus minimizing Risks and maximizing ROI for its clients make Thinksoft the ‘supplier of choice” says Ms.Vanaja Arvind, Executive Director of Thinksoft.
