Crystal Run Healthcare Classic 10K Race Weekend is ready and set to go for June 9th and 10th!

June 8, 2007 (Middletown, NY): The Crystal Run Healthcare Classic 10K Race Weekend has taken great strides to keep the community spirit of the Orange Classic 10K not only alive and well…but growing. This year’s event will be held at Middletown High School starting Saturday, June 9th at 9:15 AM, with Junior Classic races in several age groups for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade. The weekend continues on Sunday, June 10th, at 8:00 AM with the Rowley 5K Run and Walk followed by the 27th running of the Classic 10K, a race inspired by Frank Shorter, Olympic Gold Medal winner and Middletown native, beginning at 8:30 AM.

“All our heroes, Frank Shorter, Joan Benoit Samuelson, and Bill Rodgers will be at the starting line for a traditional send off to a classic event and the pride of all the communities comprising Orange County,” comments County Executive Edward Diana, who has pledged the support of his office to making the event a success this year.

There will be something for everyone on Sunday, June 10th, including great food, free gifts and services, live music, the chance to meet world class athletes, and more. Running from 8:00AM until Noon is a Community Health Expo with more than 40 vendors sharing information and some even donating materials as well. The entire community is invited to the Classic 10K Finish Line Party and Awards Ceremony which begins at approximately 9:30 AM.

“The Classic 10K is an unusual blend of World Champion and Olympic runners and local athletes, many of whom have been pounding the pavement around the region for months just to get ready,” comments Frank Giannino, one of the organizers of this year’s events.
