XenLogic Releases TOBI Enterprise, a more Robust, Hybrid Model of the TOBI Software Suite

ATLANTA – June 2007 – XenLogic, the business software and services provider for project-focused companies, today announced the release of TOBI Enterprise, a client-server database model of XenLogic’s TOBI software suite that will complement the smaller, more flexible version of TOBI. TOBI Enterprise will let medium and large size organizations employ a central database model of TOBI while also realizing the benefits of a distributed database architecture and remote database access. TOBI Enterprise boasts all of the integrated functionality of TOBI, differing only in its larger central database capacity. TOBI Enterprise runs on the Microsoft SQL server, which allows larger companies to support hundreds of TOBI users. TOBI Enterprise is fully compatible with the original TOBI system, resulting in an innovative hybrid of central and distributed database architectures.
“The combination of TOBI and TOBI Enterprise puts a unique spin on the classic, central database model,” said David Issa, President and CEO of XenLogic. “In addition to providing the benefits of a central database, like enhanced security and multi-user access, TOBI Enterprise can also act as an organizational hub, automatically shuffling information to and from dispersed departmental, workgroup and/or individual databases.”
TOBI Enterprise gives IT departments a central location to manage user rights and access to data, without eliminating the flexibility of a distributed database architecture. The hybrid database model lets organizations maintain collaboration across various departments and business teams with enhanced security and defined data ownership lines.
“The primary purpose in developing a hybrid model is to further balance the value of data ownership with the need for data sharing,” added David. “What we’ll see is collaboration, specifically on projects, that truly traverses departmental boundaries. Different departments and teams will be able to operate on their own separate databases, while automatically updating information to and from the central corporate database.”
The union of TOBI and TOBI Enterprise supports a unique, two-tier systems architecture. Users can install TOBI on their local machines, leverage the internet to connect with the central system, and access their company’s central SQL database without requiring a direct connection to the local area network.
“The hybrid model of TOBI and TOBI Enterprise enables organizations to use the internet for remote access to information, but without sacrificing data security and clear data ownership boundaries,” said David. “In other words, with the combination of TOBI and TOBI Enterprise, you can bring your corporate data center to your employees, wherever they work, and thereby empower distributed business teams with the information access and collaboration capabilities they need, without surrendering centralized control.”
The addition of TOBI Enterprise to XenLogic’s product portfolio will permit the software vendor to serve medium and large enterprises as well as their current, small business client base.
“With TOBI Enterprise we will be able to move further up market, as well as accommodate the growth and expansion of our small business clients.” said David. “We can support businesses of any size as they scale and grow over time, so they never have to replace their TOBI system.”
