Copper Bus Tube Can Now Ship Next Day
June 05, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Decatur, TN, June, 2007 – Quick Ship Metals today announced a new stocking program for electrically conductive copper bus tube, sometimes known as hard drawn tube or pipe. It is manufactured under the specifications of ASTM-B188-02. This bus tube has countless applications in electrical power transmission. It can also be found as a critical component of electrical switchgear equipment. Consumers of this product include utilities, power generators, original equipment manufacturers and large power consumers worldwide. The alloy of this copper bus tube is C102000, this particular alloy is also known as “oxygen free”. During the annealing process, nitrogen floods the annealing chamber, effectively eliminating oxygen from the molecular composition of the metal. This process enhances the current carrying capability of the copper by reducing electrical resistance. This also results in less heat being generated when carrying an electrical load. For this reason, copper bus tubing is also referred to as “OFHC” or Oxygen Free High Conductivity copper tubing.
Our seamless copper bus tube is available in regular and extra strong wall thicknesses, otherwise known as schedule 40 and schedule 80 respectively. These different wall thicknesses allow for different electrical load carrying capabilities. For a detailed chart of the amperage ratings for each diameter of the copper bus tube available, visit the copper tubing page of our website.
Quick Ship Metals now has bus tubing in stock and available for immediate shipment in full lengths or cut to your specific required length. To learn more about the physical and electrical properties of our copper bus tube, visit our website for complete information.
