Faith Based Podcast Reaching Thousands

Pastor Eli Dorman, a United Methodist minister serving Fairhope United Methodist Church in Louisville, Ohio (near Canton) has been amazed to watch the growth of an online congregation following his weekly sermon podcast. "I never imagined the impact the internet would have on sharing the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with people around the world. It has radically changed the way I think about evangelism and the way I define the church. Our church consists of a congregation that meets weekly in our building but also across the world via the internet." Dorman's podcast is called Daily Reflections because in addition to the weekly sermon podcast he posts an occasional daily bible teaching podcast to challenge his congregation and online listeners to continue their growth in Christian faith. Daily Reflections can be found on the web at www.dailyreflections.libsyn.com.
Pastor Dorman believes churches should think more creatively about ways the internet can be a tool for evangelism and outreach. "We must begin thinking beyond the four walls of our church building. I believe God calls the church to be globally minded. We must have a sincere concern for the needs of our local communities and neighborhoods, but our concern shouldn't be contained to those areas. Jesus called the church to reach out to the whole world with the message of his love and forgiveness and we must look for innovative avenues that connect with our culture in meaningful and potentially life changing ways."
The internet provides small churches like Dorman's with the capability of having a global outreach without ever having to venture to far off places. "We can reach people with the love of God thousands of miles away from the front door of our church without ever leaving our city. This opens amazing new doors for carrying the mission of Christ to the world.
