Europe’s largest pest control event organised by the BPCA was recently held at ExCel-London in the city’s docklands, and Cannon Pest Control were there to show their support by playing host to a range of international visitors from other parts of the facilities company OCS, as well as participating in seminars on the future of the industry. PestEx 2007 was dedicated to the professional pest control industry and attended by exhibitors and visitors from all over the world. Cannon itself was represented by 17 employees, from both the UK and various other countries, ranging from professional pest technicians to operation managers and managing directors. John Lloyd, technical manager for Cannon Pest Control, was part of as three man “panel of industry experts” which led a heavily over-subscribed seminar on the impending Biocidal Products Directive and the possible future effect it will have on the industry.
Cannon also sponsored the lounge, drinks reception and Awards ceremony at which Oliver Madge, Chairman of the BPCA, gave a passionate speech concerning the progress of the BPCA in recent years and how it has been established as the voice of the industry. He also thanked Cannon for their support, “The sponsorship and support that Cannon showed us at PestEx was very much appreciated and really made a difference to the event. It is a clear demonstration of Cannons commitment to their staff, the industry and a professional sign of their vision for the future. The show was a great success all round and we at the BPCA are feeling positive about the way that the industry is moving forward in terms of professionalism and cohesive action.”
Presentations were made on the night to nine Cannon employees who had successfully completed the BPCA Part 2 exam, a further example of how Cannon staff are going from strength to strength in their specialist fields. Seventy eight of the company’s field operations team have already successfully completed comprehensive training and have been entered for the national examinations such as the BPCA/RSPH Level 2 Certificate in Pest Control and BPCA Part II Diploma.
Chris Cracknell, chief executive of OCS, said of the event “It was a privilege to sponsor such a prestigious event and we were pleased to be joined at PestEx by our international colleagues. This shows the level of importance OCS and Cannon, on a truly global basis, attach to the provision of Pest Control to our customers. It was a fantastic event and we look forward to continue working with the BPCA.”
