‘Wrestlestock 2005’: A Groundbreaking Festival of Music and Wrestling; Legions of Backyard Wrestlers Expected to Attend in Amsterdam, NY on August 14

ALFRED, N.Y. - National Championship Wrestling, the world’s largest backyard wrestling organization, announced today that it will present ‘Wrestlestock 2005,’ a historic event combining a hard-hitting rock concert and the high-flying action of backyard wrestling. The event will take place on Sunday, August 14, 2005 in Amsterdam, New York (just outside the state capital of Albany). Any and all backyard wrestlers are encouraged to attend this once-in-a-lifetime spectacular.

‘Wrestlestock 2005’ will be hosted, presented, and sponsored by NCW affiliate War Zone Wrestling (www.wzwwrestling.com), based in Amsterdam, New York. The day’s festivities will center on a single-elimination ‘King of the Ring’ wrestling tournament; however, there will be several live bands performing throughout the day. The first band confirmed for ‘Wrestlestock 2005’ is This Ends Now (online at www.myspace.com/11167318). Other bands will be announced in the near future on Wrestlestock’s official website (www.wrestlestock.cjb.net). This site will also feature information on how wrestlers can guarantee entry into the ‘King of the Ring’ tournament.

For their part, NCW officials expect ‘Wrestlestock 2005’ to be a rousing success. “In the summer of 1969, young people flocked to the rolling fields of upstate New York for a musical and social event that defined a generation,” said Chris Orleans, founder of NCW. “This August 14, National Championship Wrestling will present an epic gathering that will have the same importance for the backyard wrestling world. While we won’t have Janis Joplin or the infamous ‘brown acid,’ we will present the world’s best backyard wrestlers in a day of nonstop action and great music.”
