Young Filmmaker set to release Award Winning Film

Reno, Nevada – At the young age of eighteen, director Tyler Bourns is ready to release his first full length movie on DVD. The film entitled Ashland, runs seventy two minutes long and will be on sale online on June 5th at the movie’s website -http://ashland.tylerbourns.com . Bourns produced, directed, and edited the movie during the summer between his junior and senior year of High School. He made the movie for about five hundred dollars plus the cost of equipment which he says has already paid itself off in the other video gigs that he has been hired for as a director of videography since. He casted all local actors from the Carson City and Reno area and his small crew consisted of only a couple of his classmates. Additionally, Ashland was recently awarded the Bronze Remi Award at the Houston Worldfest.

The drama centers around a teenage boy named Ash. It chronicles the last day of Ash’s life, of what pushes him over the edge and basically what drives him into madness. The story hit right at home for Bourns - “I have had two friends and classmates of mine commit suicide since I moved to Carson City so it was really important for me to portray this character’s inner emotions in the most respectful yet real way as possible.” Bourns has also already begun work on his next full length project. “This one is a coming of age tale entitled As We Walked,” stated Bourns. But he has also said that he would like to go and learn more about the process before delving into his next big project. In September he will be moving down to Los Angeles to enroll in Los Angeles City College’s cinema courses. Bourns is not necessarily looking for huge success though, “the important thing for me right is that I learn and that I do everything I can to achieve my goal of becoming a movie director. Obviously I would love to see Ashland’s sales soar but for now I’m just looking at getting it out there. It’s my hope that it will inspire other young filmmakers to do the same,” added Bourns.
