G2G3 (www.g2g3.com) the leading global provider of communication and gaming solutions, today announced the results of a comprehensive ‘ITIL V3 Barometer’ survey into the plans and challenges of IT Directors and Help Desk Managers across the globe in adopting the new version of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), ITIL V3.More than half of those polled (51%) said they plan to adopt the latest version of the globally-accepted best practice framework for IT Service Management, with a significant majority (60%) looking to do this within a 2-year period of the ITIL V3 launch.
Respondents to the survey revealed that 81% of organizations looking to adopt ITIL V3 believe their biggest barriers to successful ITIL V3 implementation will be people-related. Achieving buy-in and gaining support throughout those affected in the organization is a significant challenge for nearly one-third of respondents (32%), with resource issues (26%) and time (26%) also counting as significant potential barriers to ITIL V3 implementation success.
Only 17% of those polled believed that the financial implications of adopting the new ITIL V3 framework would propose a barrier to success.
Mark Ross Sutherland, CEO at G2G3 said: “These survey results provide strong evidence of a positive intention to adopt ITIL V3, thus indicating the industry’s readiness to embrace a more strategic, business-focused approach to Service Management. Although people-related issues are viewed as the biggest challenge for those adopting ITIL V3, these issues can be overcome more readily than technology or cost-related issues. Communication is key to the success of any ITIL V3 implementation, and tools such as simulations can offer a high-impact, rapid way to accelerate cross-organizational understanding and acceptance of the new features of ITIL V3”.
