A new exhibit featuring two dynamic painters begins at CenterLight Gallery of La Jolla. The wine and cheese reception will be held on Saturday May 19, 2007, from 6 to 9 PM.The exhibit, entitled “Fire and Ice,” marks the sixth exhibit and the one-year anniversary of CenterLight Gallery.
“This exhibit brings painter Marna Schindler’s work to the public forefront along with a variety of my own paintings. The exhibit accentuates the contrasts of heat and cold, yin and yang within an individual piece.” says Maria Repke, the owner of CenterLight Gallery.
Inspired by the bold styles and vibrant palettes of the early twentieth century post-impressionist and expressionist artists, Marna Schindler’s works explore the familiar, the fond, and the frivolous. Her unique sense of the abstract exploits the ordinary and evokes a sense of joy and discovery in the viewer as revealed in her dramatic featured painting, “Canyon Road Bound.” Repke explains, “Ms. Schindler’s work is fresh and bold and yet her style often reveals a whimsical and humorous voice."
Maria Repke, in this exhibit, brings to light some of her intriguingly deep and upfront florals along with two of her very sensuous and energetic paintings of women, and an unveiling of an energetically robust mixed media abstract painting entitled, “Life Has No Opposite”. Each of these groupings reveals Repke’s breadth of painting styles, yet they all remain true to her intentions of sublimity, freshness and quality.
