“LIVE RANDOM!” WITH YUZOZ, THE FIRST EVER LIVE CONNECTION TO THE RANDOMNESS OF OUTER SPACE

BRIGHTON, United Kingdom (May 2007) – Live Random! For the first time in history, individuals can tap into the randomness of outer space to help make decisions, pick lucky numbers, and more with the introduction of the Yuzoz outer space random number generator (RNG). Users can access the “Yuzoz Generator-1” at www.yuzoz.com.Yuzoz employs proprietary software to capture data from live astronomical events such as solar flares, northern lights, the winds of space, and the movements of clouds on Venus to turn it into randomly generated numbers. These numbers, in turn, can be used to do almost anything: pick from a list of excuses for being late to work or school; select the notes for a cosmically-generated cell phone ring tone; pick a vacation spot or restaurant; even name a new pet.
“There has always been a natural fascination with outer space. With Yuzoz, we are giving people a live connection to the excitement and wonder of space-based phenomena, allowing them to incorporate the randomness of the galaxy into their decision making,” said Jeffrey Manber, the company’s founder and chief executive officer. “Most of us will never go to space, but with Yuzoz you can experience the wonder in your day-to-day life.”
Based in England’s digital community in Brighton, Yuzoz relies on currently orbiting scientific satellites that capture data from the solar system and transmit it back to earth. That data stream is tapped and downloaded to the Yuzoz Mission Control and into the Yuzoz Generator-1, where the company’s proprietary algorithms are used to generate a string of random numbers. Visitors to the Yuzoz Website will first pick an application from a pre-populated list (or create their own application), click “Yuzoz it!”, and watch and listen to the countdown as the software taps the space data stream and provides a unique and truly random answer to their query.
Widgets and other fun stuff
In addition to the Website, Yuzoz will soon introduce a family of application-specific Widgets, which can be downloaded to individual computers or licensed for use by other Websites. The company will also license its technology to architects, jewelry and lighting designers, and other companies that want to use space-based randomness to design and create new products.
Yuzoz CEO Manber has a long history as a commercial space innovator. In 1992 he became chief executive officer of Energia USA, which represented the Russian space station Mir in its business dealings in the U.S. He played a role in bringing the Russian and American space industries together, which has ensured greater safety for astronauts and continuity for the International Space Station project.
Later, Manber was asked to head the groundbreaking Mir-Corp, which signed space tourist Dennis Tito to his first launch contract, and worked with Survivor producer Mark Burnett to develop a game show that would have sent the winner blasting off for a one-week stay on the Mir.
Yuzoz is a classic Manber company – audacious, exciting, and like nothing else before it. The name itself comes from the random pattern of the solar flares of the sun as they appeared on New Year’s Day 2006; numbers generated by that data were in turn used to pick the letters that created Yuzoz.
“Life can be random, sometimes bordering on chaos,” said Manber. “Yuzoz makes randomness fun. Let the stars decide!”
