Ascension Industries Receives KGS/MOCIE Pressure Vessel Certification For South Korea

Buffalo, NY – 17 May 2007 – Ascension Industries, Inc. (www.asmfab.com) is a specialty manufacturer of pressure vessels and custom pressure equipment. The company holds various Pressure Vessel quality certificates including ASME Code Stamps - U and UM, NBIC - R, A2 Rating China Code certification (required for import of pressure vessels into China), and has just received KGS/MOCIE certification (required for import of pressure equipment into South Korea).

The Republic of Korea is now facing a significant growth rate reduction in key industrial sectors such as automobile, electronics and specialty metals - unless the currently limited cold box (cryogenic liquid gases) production capacity is increased.

Following a number of catastrophic incidents, due to the import of low quality pressure equipment, the Korean Government’s Ministry Of Commerce Industry and Energy (MOCIE) and Korea Gas Safety Corporation (KGS) introduced rigorous regulation to control the manufacture of all pressure vessels and equipment imported into South Korea. As a result, all pressure vessel manufacturers now require KGS Factory Registration / Certification in order to import into South Korea.

Wayne Reichert (Ascension Industries Director of Quality) added: “KGS/MOCIE Pressure Vessel Certification requires the implementation of an ISO compliant Quality Management System, or ISO Registration, and requires significant investment, taking about 1 year to complete. During April 2007, Ascension Industries completed the KGS Pressure Vessel and Systems Audit process, and company officials were presented with a MOCIE Pressure Vessel Factory Registration Certificate, in Seoul this past April.“

Ascension Industries is now approved by KGS and MOCIE for the manufacture and import into South Korea of various pressure vessels and pressure equipment including: Heat Exchangers, Drums, Towers, and Reactors.
