Acworth Young Chefs Academy Celebrates 1 Year of Cooking Fun in Local Georgia Community!

It was June 17th, 2006 when Young Chefs Academy (YCA) in Acworth first opened its doors to provide culinary instruction for children in Acworth, Kennesaw, Dallas, Hiram, Marietta, Woodstock and other local Georgia areas. Since that time, the cooking school for kids has taught over 5,000 children the basics of food preparation, food safety and cooking techniques. As the only school of its kind in the area, the Acworth YCA serves an important role in the community by providing a way for children to become more independent in the kitchen and more health-conscious about what they eat.

Each week over the past year, the Acworth Young Chefs Academy has offered a new curriculum designed to provide hands-on cooking experience for young learners. The mixers have been buzzing and the ovens baking as students have diced, minced, kneaded and blended their way into good eats and healthier food options.

Since opening, the Acworth YCA has responded to the needs of the community by expanding its standard offerings of camps, birthday parties and classes to include teen events (including the college survivor series), adult classes, a YCA On-site initiative and the skill tracked Master Chefs program.

According to the owner, Vincent Hunter, this is only the beginning, “Our Academy’s focus is to help children build essential life skills through cooking and nutrition education. The parents are excited when they realize that the children participate in real cooking while having real fun in our kitchens – all taught by professional chefs.”

Similar to last summer, the Acworth YCA is starting off the second year with their Camp Can-I-Cook summer sessions. They have also partnered with other premium children’s services such as The Etiquette Company, Young Rembrandt’s and Just Fired to provide a holistic approach to culinary education.

The Acworth Young Chefs Academy is a cooking school for children ages 3-15. Acworth YCA helps budding chefs learn the basics of cooking through unique, hands-on sessions designed to familiarize them with diverse foods. They not only get to participate in preparing real recipes, they also get to taste the fruits of their labor at the end of each class.
