Charleston, SC - Denise LeCroy, tea educator, tea tour developer, and owner of The Heart of Tea, will launch a unique, first-of-its-kind tea and tea history tour on September 5, 2007 in Charleston, South Carolina. “Following the success of my March 2007 Tea in London tour, I was approached by tea enthusiasts from across the country asking me to offer a domestic tea tour, and that is how Tea in Charleston was born,” LeCroy said. “Having lived and worked in the Charleston area most of my life, I was always fascinated by its history and, as a tea educator, by its tea history. Charleston boasts the only commercial tea plantation in the United States and its product, American Classic Tea, was designated by the General Assembly as the official hospitality beverage of South Carolina. It just seemed fitting to honor these and all the other fascinating Charleston tea connections with a tour specifically developed for tea and history lovers from around the world.”
Among other things, Tea in Charleston will include historic house and plantation tours; a Low Country lunch; a special presentation by The Charleston Silver Lady; a tea class and tea tasting with William B. Hall, co-owner of The Charleston Tea Plantation and fourth generation tea taster; and gala event: a Charleston Tea with world-renowned tea expert and Southern gentleman James Norwood Pratt.
