IPM Foods buys Beloit, WI Facility

The home of the original Corn Curl will continue processing food. The Adams Building, in Beloit, Wisconsin has been sold to IPM Foods of Highland Park, IL.

The Adams Corn Curl factory, was the home of Adams Foods, the first maker of the Corn Curl. Originally the Corn Curl was produced in the hopes of finding an new animal feed product. They produced their product in this building for over 40 years, even re-building the building after a devastating fire in 1957. The building was subsequently owned by McCleary Foods of South Beloit, Illinois, and Pretzels Inc. of Bluffton, Indiana. Pretzels sold the building to IPM Foods.

The sale was brokered by Gary Seidel, President of Point ONE Commercial Real Estate, of Beloit, Wisconsin. Point ONE Commercial Real Estate services the southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois areas.

IPM Foods plans on renovating the building, and will begin operation later on in 2007. Eventually they will hire up to 90 people. They will package various food products, mainly focusing on organic and natural food products. The founders of IPM have a great deal of experience in the food industry, and with numerous food packaging companies.

Beloit, Wisconsin is home to a number of food manufacturers, including Frito Lay, Hormel Foods, Kerry Incorporated, PurePac, McCleary Foods, Kettle Foods and more. “IPM Foods will carry on the rich tradition of food packaging here in Beloit, and will do it in a historic building that was vital to the food industry in the past,” noted Gary Seidel.
