Rodrigo Lopez (Colorado Rockies), Matt McBride (Cleveland Indians), and Cedric Hunter (San Diego Padres) have retained Joseph N. Geier, C.P.A., and President of Geier Financial Management in Marriottsville, Maryland for financial representation. Geier’s sports practice specializes in the unique financial needs of professional athletes including money management, tax consultation, family office needs, as well as advice on other business matters. A native of Mexico, right-handed starting pitcher Lopez made his major league debut in 2000 with the San Diego Padres, then played five seasons (2002-2006) with the Baltimore Orioles. The Rockies acquired Lopez during this past offseason.
A 2006 second round draft pick of the Cleveland Indians, McBride is from Bethlehem, PA. The former Lehigh University catcher is batting .348 for the Class A Indians affiliate Lake County Captains.
Hunter is considered one of the top prospects in baseball. The Georgia native was the 2006 third round draft pick of the San Diego Padres franchise and helped lead the Rookie-level AZL Padres to the 2006 league championship. An outfielder, Hunter is currently playing for the Fort Wayne Wizards, the Padres Class A affiliate.
“We are thrilled that these three athletes have selected Geier Financial Management as their financial advisors,” said Geier. “Our clients know they have a firm they can trust to manage their finances so they can focus on their performance on the field. We look forward to providing excellent service and security to Rodrigo, Matt and Cedric.”
