PASADENA, CA)—During Hillsides Angel Awards Ceremony, National Charity League-Pasadena Chapter (NCL) received the Hillsides Community Angel Award for its ongoing community support and creating safe places for many vulnerable populations. As a philanthropic organization that fosters mother-daughter relationships committed to community service, leadership development, and cultural experiences, NCL Pasadena has left a mark on Hillsides and many other nonprofit organizations. Filling the community needs, NCL Pasadena has touched the lives of individuals who are homeless, impoverished, and in foster care.
“It is our chapter’s delight to be able to support Hillsides constant efforts in creating safe places for children, programs to assist families, but most importantly as advocates for children's rights,” said Karen Sweeney, incoming president of NCL Pasadena. “We are grateful for the opportunity to support Hillsides.”
With the donation of Easter baskets for the children living at Hillsides, NCL Pasadena began its generous and supportive relationship cultivated by one its members Laura Kelso, who is Hillsides’ community resources director. Quickly, NCL Pasadena became a reliable source for the children’s ongoing needs as well as the families they serve. Members have co-sponsored numerous End-of-the-school-year parties, participated in several Library Workdays, provided keepsakes, donated baskets of household items for former youth in foster care, Halloween candy bags for the children and Valentine treats, and gave over 100 Thanksgiving baskets for the families in need.
“In just over four years, NCL Pasadena has generously donated over $45,500 in in-kind support, earning membership in Hillsides Rainbow Society,” said John Hitchcock, Hillsides executive director.
“For their commitment to Hillsides and to other organizations who benefit from the mothers and daughters in National Charity League—Pasadena Chapter, we are grateful for their generosity and their friendship.”
