The Wellness Mentors, Nova Southeastern University, The Life Extension Foundation, Community Health Services of South Florida, OBIUS, AMGEN, Nursing Spectrum and WTPS 1080 AM Radio are co-sponsoring a women’s health conference and expo for health care professionals and the general public on Saturday, May 19th, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Nova Southeastern University, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The conference is designed to provide participants with up-to-date information on prevention and treatment of important health issues facing women. Lectures will be presented on a variety of key health topics including polycystic ovarian disease, heart disease, breast cancer, self-love, mind, body and spirit connection, alternative, integrative and holistic medicine.The day's events will kick off with a complimentary continental breakfast and an opportunity for attendees to have their body mass index (BMI) measured, posture screening, massage therapy, self-breast examination, and more, as they tour the exhibit hall. With more than 30 organizations participating, “Healthy Women-Healthy Lives” promises to provide an abundance of helpful information. Community organizations including the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen Foundation, North Broward Hospital District, Cleveland Clinic Hospital, Florida Cancer Institute and American Heart Association will be on-hand for the event.
After a brief welcome and opening remarks from Kandee G, WTPS 1080 am Talk Radio, Dr. Linda Gettinger-Dinner, founder of The Wellness Mentors and organizer of the conference will present a talk on “ The Greatest Love of All: Self-Love!”Other topics for the day include, “Healthy Heart Talk” Dr. Marianela Areces Cardiovascular surgeon from Cleveland Clinic, "Say No to the Flow” with Dr. Lanalee Sam from Elite OB/GYN, “Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome”, with Kay Mullings from Life Extension Foundation and “Breast Cancer Trends” with Dr. Elizabeth Tan-Chiu from Florida Cancer Research Institute. During the complimentary buffet luncheon, attendees will meet Laurie Stein from Channel 4 (CBS). She will be sharing her personal journey and struggle in surviving Breast Cancer. Following the keynote, attendees have the opportunity to experience Zumba and continue touring the exhibit hall.
In the exhibit hall, attendees have the opportunity to meet with local, national and international companies that have donated their time, money and services to this event. The afternoon focuses much on holistic medicine, and begins with Dr. Howard Dinner from Community Health Services of South Florida, who will talk about treatment options in “Integrative Medicine” and Dr. Stephanie Harris, from Lynn University will talk about the ‘Mind/Body/Spirit Connection.” Kandee G, an internationally known motivational speaker will offer a very dynamic talk that will be uplifting and extremely empowering. Final comments and many thanks will be offered by Dr. Linda Gettinger-Dinner at the conclusion of the day’s events.
