Dripping Springs Jalapeno Eating contestants were drippin' and smokin'.

There was an unusually large turnout at the Founders Day Jalapeno Eating Contest in Dripping Springs, TX. this past weekend. Contestants had to be turned away It seemed eneryone wanted to get a taste of the new taste treat "Smokin' Dave's Smoked Jalapenos".

The stage was packed with 11 contestants of all ages, as they provided heated entertainment for the curious crowd.

"Wow ! Those were the best jalapenos I have ever eaten" exclaimed Ray Fox (1st Place) and many of the other participants in the first annual Founders Day jalapeno eating contest sponsored by Smokin’ Dave’s.

After the smoke had cleared, the three winners were awarded their trophies. First place went to Ray Fox ( 9 Smoked Jalapenos Consumed ) Second place was awarded to David Mercer, a local student, and the youngest in the mix. ( 4 ½ eaten) and a close Third place went to Thomas Dillard.( 4 ) All eleven contestants were awarded a certificate from the “ Society Internationale of Competitive Consumption” ( S.I.C.C. ) for their bravery .

Smokin’ Dave’s Smoked Jalapenos are quickly becoming the preferred jalapeno of all who enjoy new taste sensations. "They are the Best in Texas" ( and intuitively the world ) say the contestants. Locally they can be found at Timpone’s ( Dripping Springs) or at Brookshire Brothers (Wimberly)
