Jerez Spain – April 25, 2007 — Called the most important equine event in all of Europe, the upcoming Jerez Horse Fair in Spain has drawn a tremendous crowd that has booked all of the hotels within the city during the week of the event. According to statistics from the EuroBookings.com (http://www.eurobookings.com), Europe’s popular hotel bookings company, 100% of the 18 hotels located within the city of Jerez are now unavailable. “This is an incredible event. People from all over the world flock to Jerez to witness the amazing feats of these Spanish purebred horses. The performances are truly top-notch,” says EuroBookings.com co-owner Marcel Stillekens.
The annual event takes place during the first week of May and is held in Gonzalez Hontoria Park. Many of the finest horses and riders compete in the events, which include coach driving, endurance trials, and dressage competitions where horse and rider perform a prescribed series of movements and are evaluated on their accuracy, movement, and overall impression.
The Jerez Horse Festival began as a cattle market, but now includes two other very popular divisions; the bullfighting and flamenco dancing events, and the Horse Fair itself. The main attraction is an elaborate, choreographed equestrian ballet performed by Jerez’s Royal School of Equestrian Art.
According to Stillekens, hotels in the nearby area are filling up at a record pace this year. Currently, nearly 2 weeks before the event, there are only 5 Spain hotels available within a 15 mile radius of the city of Jerez.
