April 16, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Bob Moore Construction has received the 2007 Summit Award from QUOIN, the North / East Texas Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).

Competition included 84 project submissions from 27 construction companies in north and east Texas, recognizing the top construction project in various building categories. Projects were judged on a variety of criteria, including:

- difficulty in construction resulting from design, location, materials, etc.;
- unusual construction techniques involved; final appearance and quality of the finished product;
- timeliness of completion; and
- the general contractor's overall safety program and special safety initiatives implemented for the particular project.

Bob Moore Construction's Summit Award recognized the Mouser Electronics Expansion project in Mansfield, Texas. This project increased Mouser's headquarters facility from 173,000 to 432,000 SF. It included 78,500 SF for office, call center, and data center space; a 3,000 SF two-story totally radiused rotunda with curtain-wall structure and a louvered sunshade system that rings the rotunda 13' above the terrazzo stone floor; and a new 180,000 SF warehouse. FRS Design Group in Fort Worth, Texas was the architect for this dramatic expansion project.

2007 marks the third consecutive year where Bob Moore Construction has been recognized by QUOIN with an award in this annual competition. In 2006 the Arlington general contractor received the Summit Award for the Trammell Crow Company CargoCentre™ III and AirFreight & LogisticsCentres™ complex at D/FW Airport. In 2005 Bob Moore Construction was selected as General Contractor of the Year by AGC / QUOIN. Later in 2005 their Cinemark theater project in Mansfield, Texas received the prestigious "Best Of" Award for Sports / Entertainment Facility Construction from Texas Construction Magazine.

"We're delighted to receive the 2007 Summit Award," said Phillip Bell, President of Bob Moore Construction. "The Mouser Expansion project was a remarkable project for us. The building itself presented some significant challenges but Curt Hellen and the rest of our team did a superb job of working closely with the client and the subcontractors. As a result they successfully delivered a beautiful building that is a true showpiece for us, for Mouser Electronics and for the city of Mansfield."

"I'm very proud to have been part in this project, "said Curt Hellen, Senior Project Manager for Bob Moore Construction. "It's hard to imagine building an expansion of this magnitude in such close proximity to a company's ongoing operations. We literally worked side by side with Mouser's employees as they carried on their very busy day-to-day work. It took a great deal of communication with Glenn Smith of Mouser Electronics, site superintendent Jerry Clem, our subcontractors and myself to ensure that everything was done safely and without disruption to Mouser's work. The result is a beautifully finished building, delivered safely and on time. I'm very pleased to see this project receive the Summit Award for the sake of everyone involved; it shows what can be accomplished when you establish a solid collaboration between the client, the general contractor, the architect and all the subcontractors."

The award was presented at an April 5 banquet held at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.
