Background:
On January 20, 2002, the historic Whiting Avenue Baptist Church of Charlotte, North Carolina, voted to donate its property and facility to New Life Theological Seminary. This decision relocated the seminary from her home within New Life Baptist Church on Harrisburg Road, where the seminary had met since its conception in June 1996.

The 37,000 square foot facility was built in two phases, the older red brick building in 1952, and the newer brown brick building in 1962. It is the newer building that is being renovated. The buildings sit on 2.5 acres of prime urban real estate in the artsy NoDa section of Charlotte, just two miles from the Charlotte's Bobcat Arena.

The donation was conservatively valued at 2.5 million dollars, the largest single gift ever received by the Seminary. Renovations of the main campus building have begun and, once completed, the students will enjoy a wireless campus, clean spacious classrooms, and a library facility worthy of one of the top theological libraries in the State. The Seminary is investing about $500,000 in the renovation in order to provide education in urban ministry for a future generation, "that a people not yet created may praise the LORD." (Psalm 102:18)
