New York, April 2007 - DataArt, a high-end software outsourcing company, announced expansion of its development facilities with the opening of a new R&D center at the University of Kherson, in the southern Ukraine. The company’s third development facility will handle projects in all core competencies of DataArt, including .NET and Java, and will employ over 30 engineers by the end of the year. The University of Kherson was selected for its tradition of academic excellence and advanced IT and telecommunications infrastructure. 8,000 students attend Kherson University, taught by more than 300 professors and 18 academics.
“Kherson was an ideal place for opening a sophisticated R&D center,” said Michael Zaitsev, CEO of DataArt. “The enormous potential of engineering students and their thirst for challenging projects was a perfect match for DataArt’s demand for skillful development force.”
“By opening a facility in Kherson, DataArt took the first steps in turning the region into the Silicon Valley of the Ukraine,” said Alexander Spivakovsky, Vice-Rector of Kherson University. “We are happy that our talented engineering students don’t have to leave the region to find quality employment.”
DataArt’s engineering force has been growing at 40% a year. The office in Kherson is the second R&D office opened by DataArt in the last year. Voronezh facility grew to 50 people during that time, and the main St. Petersburg facility currently employs over 250 people.
