April 13, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
The recent spurt of pregnant celebrities (step forward Naomi Watts / Charlotte Church / Salma Hayek) has meant that everything from pushchairs to baby food has been given a new twist and a funky edge to stand out from the crowd. There is, however, one traditional item that has been missed…

For all the ‘Yummy Mummies’ looking to pass on something truly unique to their children, Celebrity Perfumer John Stephen is offering a bespoke gift…for £125 mums-to-be can attend John’s perfumery course in Bourton-on-the-Water, in The Cotswolds, where they will be given the chance to create their own unique fragrance to wear throughout pregnancy, their child’s christening etc. The perfume created is kept on record and more can be ordered making it the ideal gift for mums to pass to their daughters.

As a qualified pilot, John can fly the country for £1,250, offering his bespoke perfume service to a group of up to ten people, ideal for a stylish and distinctive baby shower.

John’s perfumery skills are part artist, part scientist and part detective. The acclaimed and globally-adored Cotswold Perfumery designs and creates bespoke signature scents that are as individual as the person who wears them. John, who has been a creative consultant for London and French perfume houses looks set to be the must have celebrity party guest this year. His clients include a dazzling list of followers with Her Majesty the Queen, Prince Charles and the Duke of Edinbrough having created their own signature scents.

John Stephen says, “I have been a creative perfumer for over 35 years. I have a shop, laboratory, compounding room, factory and perfume garden. It is where I create new fragrances, teach perfumery and manufacture our product range. I am so passionate about the subject of perfumery. I like to share the sheer excitement of creative perfumery, discuss the workings of the nose, and dispel some of the myths.”

With John and his sweet smelling heirlooms, the likes of antique shawls, silver spoons and vintage pearls may be a thing of the past…

John Stephen is available for interviews and photos are available.

Note to Editors:

The Cotswold Perfumery is one of only three manufacturers and retailers of perfume in Europe; a small, dedicated team does everything by hand. For further information visit
www.cotswold-perfumery.co.uk.

Their Perfumery Courses take place in the laboratories of the Cotswold Perfumery, in the picturesque village of Bourton-on-the-Water. The Cotswold Perfumery will keep details of your secret formula on record, so that you can re-order more at a later date. As well as the unique opportunity to customise your own perfume, the day will also teach you how to develop and become more aware of your own sense of smell - the most highly attuned of all the senses.

Following a walk around the perfume garden to experience essential oils in their natural state, there is then a lesson on how perfumes are classified into groups. After the chance to compare oils produced by various extraction methods and appreciate the basic theory of perfume creation, it’s time to put the theory into practice. Blending your own perfume from the range of oils supplied, there is a choice of using some of the best materials available in the world.

Starting at 9.15 am and running through to 4.00 pm the day costs £125 and includes lunch, tea and coffee breaks and a 25ml bottle of the scent you have created. Individual attention is given throughout. One Day Perfume Creation Courses are taking place on the following Saturdays in 2007:

June 23rd, July 21st, August 18th, September 15th, October 13th, November 10th, December 8th

In addition, ‘One Day Perfume Creation’ courses in Bourton-on-the-Water can also be organised for groups, comprising a minimum of six people, on week days by calling John Stephen on 01451 820698.
