Bluewater Uranium Mill nears 10 year anniversary of completion.

The Bluewater Uranium Mill, in Bluewater, New Mexico near the ten year aniversity of completion. Anderson Engineering was subcontracted to complete the environmental remediation process of the Bluewater Uranium Mill. Anderson Engineering received an award of excellence from the ACEC Consulting Engineers Council of Utah for excellent work done on the Bluewater Uranium Mill.

Anderson Engineering performed all design, construction management, and final documentation for regulatory and in-house reviews. Surveying was an integral part of this process, providing for optimum designs and verifications of specification compliance. Anderson Engineering employed the latest advancements in total station technology, as well as GPS to accomplish this work quickly and accurately.

Anderson Engineering accomplished the following with a two to three man survey crew (additional crews were utilized occasionally to supplement the effort).

Initial topographic survey of work areas for design purposes
Layout of earthwork and drainage features
Pre-construction layout of earthwork and drainage features

Construction
Daily survey audits for progress and verification of lines and grades
Weekly and monthly surveys to verify lines and grades
Weekly and monthly surveys to verify payment and progress quantities
Full construction staking on fast-track phases
Consolidation, settlement and alignment surveys
Stockpile and borrow volume surveys

Follow Up:
Final verification of lines, grades and quantities
Grid layout for environmental monitoring and clean-up verification
Aerial photogrammetry ground control
Final as-built mapping and surveys
