City Dance presents "Still Fresh"
April 10, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
HOUSTON, TX – Echoing themes presented earlier in the season in “Fresh,” City Dance, continues to give us a new look at ourselves and the world in which we live. Under the direction of Sherese Campbell, founder and artistic director, City Dance presents “Still Fresh” Saturday, April 28, 7:30 p.m. at Hamman Hall on the campus of Rice University. With pieces called “Contact,” “Precious Lord,” and “Frantic Groove,” Campbell’s dancers are certain to jazz, hip-hop and leap their way into your psyche.
Campbell ventures into uncharted territory as she explores the inner child with “Nursery Rhymes for Grown Folk,” which she wrote and choreographed. Not recommended for those under the age of seventeen, the two-act musical piece has the company dancers strutting and voicing their way through some of life’s delightfully humorous, and at the same time thought-provoking, dilemmas.
A word of warning to the jaded and world-weary: be prepared to be refreshed with a jolt of energetic, urban choreographic style.
Tickets, $20, $10 for students with ID, can be purchased at the door or online at www.houstoncitydance.com. For more information, call 713-529-6100.
