April 2007 - Oak Lawn, IL — Southwest Hospitals MRI Center implemented MedInformatix RIS in 2003 and has since seen remarkable improvements in efficiency, such as elimination of paper records, a more streamlined workflow, and improved turn around time on reports and billing.SWH MRI located in Oak Lawn, IL is jointly owned and operated by three prestigious hospitals on Chicago’s southwest side: Little Company of Mary Hospital, Palos Community Hospital, and St. Francis Hospital and Health Center. This joint venture was among the first of its kind and has been providing MRI services to the community since 1987.
During the past 20 years many changes have taken place in technology and SWH MRI has continued to upgrade and expand its services to provide state of the art health care for its patients. One of those upgrades was to improve its efficiency. For this, SWH MRI began its year long search for a complete RIS solution that could help with everything from scheduling to distribution of reports to billing and collections. After interviewing many RIS vendors, including Swearingen and Meditech, SWH MRI selected the MedInformatix RIS. “When we were considering a RIS provider MedInformatix had the best feature set at the lowest cost; the decision to purchase MedInformatix was an easy one,” said Michael Cepolski, Assistant Director of SWH MRI.
Four years after implementation of the MedInformatix RIS, Michael is still happy with their decision and commented, “The system has been very stable and the transition was easier than we expected. Prior to installing MedInformatix we still had paper charts and films. MedInformatix has eliminated lost/misfiled charts and has improved our overall efficiency drastically.”
Thomas McGonigle, Chief Executive Officer at MedInformatix, stated that “We are very privileged to have Southwest Hospitals MRI Center as one of our clients. We are fortunate that many practices who implement the MedInformatix RIS enjoy increased efficiency and quick return on investment. We are pleased that Southwest MRI is no exception.”
Founded in 1994, MedInformatix is a privately held corporation that provides radiology practices with a comprehensive, single database RIS solution. MedInformatix is the leader in RIS/PACS integration.
