New York, NY – April 2007 – 2R’s Entertainment & Media, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of the talented actor CURTISS COOK, to its media and publicity roster. “2R’s was my choice of agency after hearing all the great things that they do and knowing that we are both on the same page about helping me take my career to a higher level and…I am happy as hell to be here”, says Curtiss Cook. Curtiss Cook joins the 2R’s Entertainment & Media roster alongside singer/songwriter/producer Jimmy Cozier, singer/songwriter/producer Donell Jones, Maya Azucena (Recording Artist), NIK (America’s Next Top Model), Nicoye Banks (Actor), MIGUEL Perdomo (Male Supermodel), Nickelodeon, The N and The BLEU Magazine. “It is an amazing honor for us to have Curtiss under our roster. I have been a fan of his work for sometime and I promise you, the best is yet to come”, says Ra-Fael Blanco, VP of Media Relations, 2R’s Entertainment & Media.
Curtiss I' Cook hails from the Midwest, Dayton, Ohio to be exact. He is the oldest of five children and was bitten by the acting bug at an early age. While growing up in Ohio, Curtiss began taking classes with various community theatre groups in the area and eventually joined the world renowned DCDC (Dayton Contemporary Dance Company) as a dancer. “I didn’t want to really become a dancer, but I knew that as a dancer I could meet all the girls in class and get my flirt-on, so I joined”, chuckles Curtiss. The girls and the lessons eventually paid off as he quickly garnished the attention of one of the city’s largest organization for teen performers.
Having graduated from the prestigious Mountview Theatre School in London, England. Curtiss headed back to the states to the city of dreams, New York City. As a young and struggling actor, Cook had to quickly figure out how he would make it in this big city. He began auditioning and landing small parts here and there until he landed his first leading role in the John Clancy’s off Broadway play “The Charmer”. Curtiss’ dreams of making it in New York as an actor did not seem impossible, as he continued to land role after role in the theatre circuit. Then fate kicked in. He eventually fell in love, got married and became the father of three beautiful children. At this point, he realized that he was no longer just an up and coming actor, but he was also a family man that had to produce for himself and his family.
Curtiss did not stop. To many, he is known to be a fighter. He continued to fight and was not stopping until he succeeded. One day, Curtiss realized that there was a need for a home for young African-American talent to explore, develop and nurture their skills. He along with several other members of the theatre world, who ranged from actors, costume designers and lighting technicians decided to establish the Tupu Kweli Theatre Company. TK. was one of the very few African-American theatre companies in the city during that time. Through the years, they garnished several Audelco nominations and were considered one of the premiere companies in the city.
As they say…After the storm, there is always sunshine and in Curtiss Cook’s case, there were no exceptions. Curtiss went on to land leading roles back to back on Broadway in Miss Saigon and Walt Disney production of The Lion King. He found love again and re-married and is now the proud and happy father of five children. Since the storm, Curtiss has starred in over 15 national television commercials and has made featured appearances on “The Sopranos”, “Rescue Me”, “Law and Order”, “The Job” and “Trial by Jury”, just to name a few.
Curtiss Cook has made his way into Hollywood and is not looking back. In 2005, he landed the co-starring role opposite Nicole Kidman & Sean Peen in the critically acclaimed “The Interpreter” directed by Sydney Pollack. This summer, Curtiss will be co-starring with Sigourney Weaver & Kate Bosworth in the drama “The Girl in the Park” directed by David Auburn. Curtiss is also the lead actor in one of the most talked about short-form films this year, the Be’ Garrett directed short-film “A Nick in Time” coming off of an appearance at Sundance and The Tribeca film festivals. Curtiss is currently finalizing production on “Order of Redemption”, whom he co-stars with Busta Ryhmes, Tom Berenger and Armand Assante’.
"The universe and the creator wants all of us to succeed… that’s how it’s set up, but the only thing that gets in our way is us… So when it seems like things are not going in the direction you want them too… just step to the side for a second… get out of your own way and watch the path clear… I can guarantee that it will". Shit I just love love. Curtiss Cook
