(Cary, NC) April 4, 2007 — The 2007 Cary/Apex/Morrisville (CAM) Relay For Life will return to Cary High School on Saturday April 28. This year the annual Relay For Life will take on an even greater meaning because it will be the 10th anniversary of the event. This year’s CAM Relay For Life will begin with a Survivor’s Lap and includes a kid’s walk and a luminaria ceremony.

This year’s Relay is already on the track to surpass previous events. A total of 73 teams have already registered to participate, exceeding the goal of 65 teams. This year’s financial goal is $200,000, a $26,000 increase from the amount raised last year.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary, several special events are scheduled for the 2007 CAM Relay For Life, including a Creative Cake contest and a contest for best camp décor. Since the relay is a 24-hour event, teams camp out in order to keep at least one participant from each team on the track at all times.

The relay will begin with the Survivor’s Lap at 10:00 am Saturday April 28 and end with a closing ceremony at 10:00 am on Sunday April 29. All cancer survivors are invited to participate in the Survivor’s Lap. A luncheon will follow the Survivor’s Lap.

Due to logistical issues, the relay will take place at Cary High School instead of the previously announced Cary Academy site. Teams and individuals can sign up to participate or donate at www.camrelay.org. There is no registration fee for cancer survivors. Survivors are invited to bring their caregivers.

About Relay for Life
Relay For Life® is a fun-filled overnight event designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer in our community. At the event, we celebrate survivorship and raise money to help the American Cancer Society in its mission to save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
More than 10 million people in the USA have beaten cancer at some point in their lives. Being able to be a part of a Relay for Life team, sponsor the event, or even donate to a participant gives the community a chance to join along with the American Cancer Society for the fight to prevention of cancer in the futureFor more information contact: 1-800-ACS-2345 or visit www.camrelay.org.
