To be held on October 11, 2007 at Ritz Carlton in memory of Alexander Tonin Marku, the 6yr. old boy, who died of CF in Albania, and in honor of Melinda Preka, Founder of the Foundation of Hope for Sick Children of Albania, who tried to save Alex’s life. CFF has been recognized as one of the top health organizations according to SmartMoney, Wall Street Journal and Forbes Magazine. For more information on CF, go to www.cff.org or call 1-800-824-5064.
Last October 2006, Amber met Alex at the Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Amber remembers, "Alex was very thin and pale with an oxygen tank attached to his back." He and his two parents had to return to the poorest country in Europe: Albania. There were no more funds to support medical treatment for Alex in the USA; and no one wanted to help but Melinda, an immigrant single mother. With Alex's passing, his mother has lost all her children to CF.
