Echelon Studios is proud to announce that it has acquired the distribution rights to the critically acclaimed documentary “The Bulls of Suburbia.” The brainchild of filmmaker Alex Lemay, “The Bulls of Suburbia” is the story of a man who finds that the only way to save his life is to risk it all. "The Bulls of Suburbia" is a feature-length documentary that tells the story of one man trying to overcome the demons of his past by entering into the secretive world of bullfighting. Along the way, he encounters a band of strangers that accompany him on this wild ride of self-discovery, including a young Korean kid escaping his overbearing father, a soft-spoken geneticist, an L.A.rocker and an ex-surfer-turned bullfight instructor. As he travels back and forth to Spain, Mexico and Southern California in search of victory in the ring, his father is stricken with terminal cancer. At a crossroads, he must decide whether to quit or forge ahead. In the film’s conclusion he finds himself in a battle for his life, his soul and the approval of his dying father.
“The Bulls of Suburbia” is the culmination of years of hard work and heartache for producer/ director/ star Alex LeMay. A documentary based on his trials and tribulations associated with his drug and alcohol addictions, the feature is a look at a man who knows what it is like to go from the lowest of lows, to the highest of highs, all in the sake of changing his life for the best.
“We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with Alex LeMay. He’s a rare find in the film industry: daring, noble, and always up for a challenge,” said Eric Louzil, President and CEO of Echelon Studios.
Gloria Morrison, Head of Acquisitions, says, “Alex LeMay is a wonderful talent, and we’re glad we can help him get his projects seen. His ability to tell a story is incomparable, as he’s able to balance his projects with both style and substance.”
Says Alex LeMay, “It’s very rare as an independent filmmaker that you find a distributor that is so in love with movies. Echelon sincerely cares about my work…it’s a truly safe place for the independent filmmaker.”
“The Bulls of Suburbia” is the first of a trio of documentaries created by Alex LeMay. The second is the controversial “Conversations with the Enemy” which will be available for purchase in the near future and is also available from Echelon Studios, and the third is the feature “Desert Bayou” which is set for a theatrical release this year.
