Los Angeles, California; March 2007 – MeTV Network, Inc. the niche Internet protocol television (IPTV) programming specialist, announced today that it has teamed with the IFC, one of the oldest and best regarded mixed martial arts promoters, and Fighting.com to launch “FightTV™”, a 24/7 mixed martial arts channel. FightTV shows some of the best fights from the biggest names in MMA including Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell, Tim Sylvia, Caesar Gracie, Jens “Little Evil” Pulver, Renato “Babalu” Sorbral, Anthony “Mad Dog” Macias, and Vladimir “The Janitor” Matyushenko. The channel contains countless hours of great, hard hitting fights. As an added bonus for viewers, for the first thirty days, FightTV™ will be entirely commercial free! “Mixed Martial Arts is one of the fastest growing sports in America”, said Jeff Pescatello, co-founder of MeTV. “You would think that in a world of 200 or more cable and satellite channels you could find a channel dedicated to mixed martial arts, but you can’t, so we teamed with IFC and Fighting.com and launched one”, continued Pescatello.
“We have a world-wide fan base. MMA is a big sport in the United Kingdom, Japan, Brazil, and Russia. Our fans are really passionate about the sport. I think they are going to love FightTV because it provides them with access to the best fights from the best fighters in the sport all day long and for free” said Howard Petschler, Founder of the IFC.
“Our traffic at www.Fighting.com over the past several months has increased ten-fold. I think the efforts of the Ultimate Fighting Championships, Inc. (“UFC”) has really stirred a lot of excitement about MMA lately” said Todd Wooten, General Manager of Fighting.com. While Spike Network shows a couple of hours of ‘The Ultimate Fighter” and other UFC programming per week, there is clearly demand for a 24/7 MMA network”, continued Wooten.
FightTV is an advertising supported network that is free to everyone that wants it. There are no limits about how long or how often you watch. That is because MeTV uses free streaming technology from Jetcast, Inc. to provide very high quality streams to an unlimited size audience. “The Jetcast technology will allow us to launch literally hundreds of new niche channels this year” said Pescatello. FightTV™ can be found at www.fighting.com or www.jetcast.com.
MeTV will license FightTV™ to companies looking to add high-quality IPTV programming to their offerings.
