FAMED GUESTS CELEBRATE 2ND ANNIVERSARY OF MONACO CHARITY FILM FESTIVAL CLOSING GALA

Monaco – The Closing Night Gala of Monaco Charity Film Festival, Monaco’s international film festival, will celebrate the festival’s 2nd anniversary with acclaimed actors Julie Delpy and Leonor Varela on Saturday, 19 May 2007 in the Salle Empire, Hotel de Paris. Julie Delpy, was first featured in Jean-Luc Godard's Détective (1985) at the age of fourteen. She has starred in many American and European productions since then, including Disney's The Three Musketeers (1993), Killing Zoe (1994), and Before Sunset with Ethan Hawke (1994). She graduated from NYU's film school, and wrote and directed the short film Blah Blah Blah (1995), which screened at the Sundance Film Festival. Chilean born actress Leonor Varela is the daughter of famous Chilean biologist and philosopher Francisco Varela . After graduating from the Ecole du Passage and the Conservatoire Superieur de Paris, Leonor’s film career started in 1995 and since then she has featured in films such as The Man In The Iron Mask, Blade II and the British sleeper hit “Goal”.

Closing night festivities complete with a charity auction, a fashion extravaganza by Italian designer Mirco Giovannin of Yoon Couture, music from Nicole and Alana Chiron and an awards ceremony will round out the 7-day festival. The festival, running from May 14-19, includes opening and closing night events, discussions with directors, workshops, live film performances, movie premieres and after parties.

On each day of the Festival, the entire Principality of Monaco together with international visitors, are invited to view films held at the Salle Debussy of the Hotel de Paris. This year’s MCFF features a blend of features and shorts from countries representing nearly every continent. Participating films embody the culture and politics of nations as varied as Colombia, Afghanistan, Italy and the Philippines. “Film allows audiences a unique opportunity to experience similarities and differences that exist between the many peoples of the world," states Founder and Festival Director Vincente-Andres Zaragoza. "By involving the entire community and its participants, a film festival enriches the lives of all by presenting outstanding cinema, elegant events and educational forums."
